Herman Mwanja

Herman Mwanja, is a Senior Project Officer, Environmental antimicrobial resistance (AMR) Surveillance with the Fleming Fund Country Grant 2 project (Uganda). He has a Bachelor’s of Environmental Health Sciences from School of Public Health Makerere University and is currently pursuing a Masters of Public Health there as well. Over the past 5 years, Herman has been working with Infectious Diseases Institute (IDI), Makerere University. While there he has had various leadership positions such as the District One Heath Surveillance Officer with the Global Health Security Partnership Engagement Project for South Western Uganda, Koboko and Yumbe Districts. He has also been an instrumental team player for the Zoonotic Disease Coordination Office (ZDCO), Ministry of Health (Uganda)

Mr. Mwanja has particular interests in Environmental antimicrobial resistance, One health, Surveillance, Zoonotic diseases and leadership. Herman is passionate about building the next generation hence co-founding the Students Coalition for Health (SCOFOH), an NGO focused on mentorship and empowering youth to take charge of their health. His latest publication is titled “Population Movement Patterns Among the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Rwanda, and Uganda During an Outbreak of Ebola Virus Disease: Results from Community Engagement in Two Districts – Uganda, March 2019”
