Medical anthropologist with focus in health research

Alex is a medical anthropologist with focus in health research, applying social science principles and methodologies. He has actively engaged in disciplinary and multidisciplinary research activities on a range of topical issues that influence health and health outcomes. The current research engagement is in Global Health, focusing on antimicrobial resistance and antibiotics. He is part of the Antibiotic Trajectories- FAR Project at the University of Oslo, Department of Community Medicine and Global Health where he is a Doctoral Research Fellow. The particular focus is on the consumption of antibiotics at the community level, both in human and animal health under the One Health approach. He hopes to provide an ethnographic-based description of the social, economic and material conditions of antimicrobial use (AMU) in rural Tanzania. Alex is open to learning and unlearning, engaging in discussions and debates that seek to share knowledge, capacity strengthening for active involvement in Global Health and Antimicrobial Resistance work.
